This is a verry uniqe game. It's one of the best I've played in years. With that said I have to comment on the flying. WTF mans sky is what i think sometimes haha I feel like half the time I have almost no control other than pointing the ship. When you aren't trying to lock on to an icon to travel to it it forces you to home in on the icon so I find myself flying outside a planets atmosphere into space to travel faster only to find that I can only fly a short distancece before having to fly back out of the atmosphere because of the icon lock. I feel like the right joystick could have been utilized soo much better its almost like Noone new what else to put there. When flying on a planet it's almost pointless to look around because I can't fly close enough to the ground to see anyway and theres no optical zoom. Your elevation is auto corrected when there's a floating rock and you go way above what your trying to look at and theres no zoom. When your in space you cant do it if your dogfighting because you have to take your finger off the joystick to hit the fire button, And even if I didn't theres auto lock so it's pointless anyway. Only being able to take off 3 times before having to refuel the propulsion causes me to think about just flying on instead of trying to mine or document anything from the fear of not having fuel to take off again or not being able to find plutonium. I've had 3 planets with only plant life and nothing else so on one I ran out of fuel trying to find more and had to walk 30 min to the next trade post to get it and walk back it took a little over an hour due to terain. The autolanding sometimes causes me to fly over where I was trying to land and land far away or not land at all when the area i initiate the sequence was clear but it auto piloted me over a non landable area. My faviolite thing about this game is space combat. Undeniably fun. But what happens when you see 17 pirates warp in attachking cargo ships is you now can't warp away even If your not being shot at. It boots you out of warp drive so the ai can catch up and attack you so if you get low on health you can't escape or even run and it seems when the enemy shoots at you the have the same auto aim we do making it impossible to even dodge bullets and it really detracts from the overall actual space gameplay because you kind of just have to take the damage like a rpg not like a dogfight. It limits me to contemplating not even atracking the cargo ships or trying to help the ones being attacked And when sentinal ships come after you there's no escape. On planet air combat really sucks because the ai ships can fly too low to the ground for you to be able to target them and/or fly under things that the game forces you to elevate and fly over which slows you down. The recharge system of the multitool and ship modules is verry verry tedious and I constantly find myself spending more time trying to keep my tool going than being able to make progress towards what I'm trying to acomplish and even though I have 3 cooling upgrades on the tool it has no effect on the actual length of charge the tool holds. I can holdd the mining trigger longer but I still have to constantly refill the tool and concentrating more on the tools fuel than upgrading my suit ship and even the other modules of the tool. I don't mean it's hard to find fuel but it's time consuming to have to stop doing anything and navigate the menu to be able to use the tool constantly. it's a major drawback to mining. Please guys we gotta get this to enough people for the devs to notice. We need some sort of flight simulator option to switch between for the people like myself who really want to do those things the most. Maybe some tool fuEl reserve upgrades would be nice but I personally do see the tedioustool as a major point of the game making you have to land and explore but simply having so little control overy what you do when you fly just seems counterproductive seeing as this is a game about space exploration. I really hope I'm not the only person who feels this way because it would be a shame to let such an oppurtune mechanic be so diluted for hardcore flight fans who have not only always wanted a game like this but who were extattic to finally play this one. I couldn't stop yelling ooooooohhhbh shiiii... like a kid again everytime I discovered something new so to be fair I do love this game I just feel like there was a lot of unexploited potential that could have possibly made this definitely the game of the year because it's already a candidate in my opinion.
