Not mentioned here, but I use D3D gear to record what I do, I've found that fraps has too big of files, dxtory has audio lag after a little, and action I get frequent errors with. To each his own with this stuff I guess, everyone has their own preference.
I use Mirillis Action! recorder for screen capture, My Blue Yeti Pro Microphone for recording, and Cyberlink PowerDirector Delux for video editing. I havent done anything new in a while, Youtube wise, but I have been doing voice over work. With No Man's Sky coming out, I'm hoping to do more regular videos!
Sorry to resurrect an old topic but I'd also like to recommend LoiLo game recorder. It's free, and I found it very user friendly. I will be using it for all my recording except in a few cases where I'll be using OBS, which is also free.

Shadow Play is definitely a good option if you have a Nvidia Graphics card. It has a really low impact on frames and you can either record or capture the past 1-10 minutes depending on your settings so if you miss a cool moment without hitting record you can still save it.
Well though I use PC I use an Elgado HD60 because recording the image as it is being generated was too much to ask of my laptop, so I use the HD60 to bridge two laptops one Asus 17" RoG laptop to play the game, and a Acer 17" laptop to catch the image with the software provided. I never have to deal with desynchronization of audio. And I can livestream to any number of services with just a click or two if I choose a different service (after initial setup). So switching from Twitch to YTLivestream, is nothing but a couple of clicks and it's done. I know that there is little wisdom in switching streaming services, but I have a very minor following, and I am testing several platforms to see which is best for my and my community's needs.
